Leather Care
Jeanne de Trois Leather
Each Jeanne de Trois piece is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, and with the right care, it can be a companion for life. Leather is a natural, evolving material that softens and gains a beautiful patina over time. At Jeanne de Trois, we exclusively use full-grain leather, allowing natural characteristics like scars, wrinkles, veins, and pores to remain visible. These features are not imperfections but rather signs of the leather’s high quality and longevity.
Our hardware—buckles, zippers, locks, and fasteners—are custom-made designs, crafted from brass with hand-polished finishes in gold, palladium, or Permabrass. To keep your Jeanne de Trois product in pristine condition for years to come, please follow these guidelines:
Shield your leather from harsh elements
Leather is sensitive to weather conditions such as water, oil, heat, direct sunlight, and humidity. Prolonged exposure to these elements can affect its appearance, so avoid placing it near windows or heat sources. If water comes in contact with the leather, gently blot it with a soft, lint-free cloth to avoid staining.
Avoid accidental damage
Certain substances can permanently damage leather, such as ink (pens, markers), oily or alcohol-based products (like cosmetics, lipstick, or perfume). Light-colored leather is particularly prone to discoloration when in prolonged contact with rough or dark fabrics. To maintain the shape of your item, avoid overloading or mishandling it.
Allow the leather to rest
To preserve the beauty of your Jeanne de Trois item, it’s important to give it rest when not in use. Store it away from light, moisture, and extreme temperatures, ideally in its original dust bag or box. To maintain its shape, fill it with tissue paper or bubble wrap, and ensure straps and closures are fastened. We advise against using moisture-absorbing packets, as they may dry out the leather.
